Basilicata

This is a mountainous and dry region. Destinations in the area could be a visit Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which is a city carved out of the rock (“tufa”), Metaponto home to an archaeological site with the Tavole Palatine temple, Maratea, a medieval town, now a popular seaside resort with crystal clear water, clean beach and many caves and grottoes for diving, along with other possibilities.

"Honeymoon organizing was approaching crisis point, when on the recommendation of a friend we contacted Megan at the Italian Concierge. Thank goodness we did! Megan immediately responded with a range of accommodation options, from which we narrowed down our favorites. We stayed in the most beautiful castles and period hotels, and couldn't have asked for more perfect, peaceful locations.. We can't recommend Megan highly enough, particularly for her charming and personable service, and her obvious love and knowledge of Italy." - Jo & Andrew Jaffe, Feb. 2001
