Lazio is home to Rome, making it home to the Vatican and all the politics of Italy and the Church. The history in Rome alone is overwhelming but there is more outside of this large city…the Etruscan civilization begins along it’s northern border with Tuscany, the coastal area is popular with the Romans and also offers its own history and ruins and there are lakes and vineyards to explore, along with monasteries and pretty hill towns.
